  • Alliance Development is committed to supporting organizations efforts, educating and
    supporting patients, family members, and the public regarding therapeutic areas in which we
    are involved. Examples of such support include funding for the development and distribution of
    patient education materials, disease awareness activities and general support for organizational
    fundraising events.

    Novartis ensures grant applications are received, handled, reviewed, and evaluated according
    to the highest standards and in full compliance with relevant laws, regulations and guidelines.
    We encourage and support quality initiatives while ensuring consistency with the Office of
    Inspector General (OIG) guidelines.

    Consistent with Federal Law and ethical standards under which Novartis Pharmaceuticals
    Corporation conducts business, grants must never be linked to prescribing, purchasing,
    formulary status or reimbursement.

    Novartis will not:
  • Control development of content
  • Influence selection of presenters and/or moderators
  • Define needs or objectives for a program
  • Influence selection of persons "who will be in a position of control over the content"
  • Select methods or venue
  • Alzheimer's
  • Arthritis
  • Asthma/Allergy
  • Cardiovascular/Heart Failure
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Dermatology
  • Migraine
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Non-Therapeutic Area Specific* (Excludes Philanthropic requests)
  • Neuroscience
  • Ophthalmology
  • Rare Diseases
  • Transplant
  • Types of patient activities that Novartis Alliance Development/Patient Advocacy will consider for grant funding include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Patient Education / Disease State Awareness Programs including print, media, newsletters,
    interactive (websites), seminars, symposia, etc.
  • General Fundraising (Walks, Galas, etc) - this is funded through a different process
  • Memberships/Corporate Advisory Boards/Roundtables - this is funded through a different
    process
  • General Support at a Scientific or Physician Meeting (ie: meals, breaks, faculty dinner)
  • Grants or payments to entities that are not 501(c)3 non-profit organizations
  • Grant to individuals, physicians or group practices
  • Retroactive support
  • Promotional exhibit or display space (please contact your local Novartis representative
    regarding requests for exhibit fees)
  • Events/activities related to spousal attendance
  • Request is submitted at least 60 days prior to program start date
  • Request is in alignment with areas of interest to Novartis
  • Needs assessment
  • Objectives are clearly defined and aligned with the needs assessment
  • Agenda is consistent with objectives
  • Budget is reasonable and cost-effective
  • SIGNED W-9 Form
  • Proposed Outline/Agenda
  • Detailed Needs Assessment
  • Detailed Budget
  • Signed W-9 Form required for all submissions
  • Request will not be reviewed until signed W9 received
